Chicago Mercy Hospital, Room 923-B

Keith Owens has entered Chicago Mercy Hospital numerous times since that fateful day when the monster Hush sent Keith’s girlfriend and valet Melissa Hayes crashing off the stage at Annihilation. And every time it’s the same routine. He picks up some flowers from a local newspaper kiosk. He enters the hospital. He checks in with hospital security. He takes the elevator to the ninth floor. He shows his clearance badge at the nurses’ station, despite the fact they all know who he is. He enters room 923-B. He places the flowers in the vase. And then he sits.

There's nothing to do here Some just whine and complain In bed in the hospital Coming and going Asleep and awake In bed at the hospital

Usually he just sits quietly. Sometimes he holds Melissa’s hand and stares at her. Sometimes he falls asleep after hours of silent contemplation. Sometimes he speaks softly under his breath so that others can’t hear him. Sometimes the staff questions why he bothers, as she may never wake up. Sometimes Keith wonders that too. But if there is one thing Keith Owens has learned from this experience, it’s that life is too short to do things the way he had been doing them. Lives aren’t meant to be manipulated. Families shouldn’t be destroyed. Scores should be settled in the wrestling ring, and not by causing others unnecessary pain, suffering, and agony outside of that wrestling ring. So whatever Trevor Cunning and Melissa Hayes may or may not have done on that video tape that makes Paris Hilton’s night vision film look like an Oscar winner, two things are certain: One – Melissa at least deserves a chance to explain herself when the time comes, and two – Keith is going to settle his score with Trevor Cunning in the ring, at Oblivion, once and for all.

Today’s date is August 30, 2008. Keith was supposed to be at NAFW Day: Carnage, but instead he came here to Mercy Hospital because he hadn’t been able to visit in several days thanks to legal work regarding his father’s criminal case. But as he sits down in the visitor’s chair today, he notices something on Melissa’s bed. Specifically, it’s a note tucked behind her head. Keith stops himself from sitting down all the way, and reaches out to grab the paper. He stands upright and slowly unfolds it. It is the strange writing style of whoever has been writing the “DEMON” notes, only this note says:

SHe WaS MiNe FiRST DoN’T FiGHT RuN FRoM THe DeMoN

Keith immediately pulls out his mobile phone and dials Jack Henderson. He has a million questions for Henderson about the identity of the being behind these notes. But Keith isn’t going to wait any longer for the name of his tormenter. After this last note, Keith has made up his mind about who he thinks has been trying to mentally torture him for his past actions – and it was the person that had been closest to him, the person he’d never suspect, the only person who would be able to know such information, and the only other person who would dare to say such things.

Keith storms out of the room to catch a flight back to Los Angeles do what he thinks is the right thing – beating his former best friend and partner within an inch of his life. Honor, glory, dignity, and respect must be restored to the Foundation, and Keith is going to start cleaning house at the top with a mix of justice, vengeance, and personal vindication. This is his way of righting his wrongs. This is his way of making a difference. This is his crusade, and it all begins by destroying the most devious and wretched villain to ever crawl through the Foundation: Trevor Cunning.
