Characters must be original creations. No real wrestlers will be accepted. Characters must be realistic, in terms of size and style. A 350 pound high-flyer or a 150 pound powerhouse are not realistic and will not be accepted. Requirements for move-lists are available in the Sample Application form.
Any handler in NAFW is allowed to play one singles wrestler and one tag team, but NOT two separate singles wrestlers. The singles wrestler can be part of the tag team, but in such cases you should understand that booking options will be somewhat restricted.
Cards for TV and Pay Per View shows are booked at the sole discretion of the administration. Match requests and suggestions (including requests to be left off of a card) will be considered, but the administration requires one week’s prior notification from the date the administration intends on posting the card.
You are expected to check the main page of the website frequently to know when a new card has been posted. It is your responsibility to keep up to date on bookings, deadlines, and other changes and announcements.
For television shows, match results are angled by the administration team. The way to influence your match results to be positive for your character is to be active within the fed. Segments and Match Strategies, along with Roleplays, and collaboration with other handlers, go a long way in helping to provide push for your character.
For Pay Per View events, to maintain the legacy of competitiveness the NAFW is known for, match results will be decided primarily off the Roleplays for the Pay Per View period by the administration team. However, the overall push of the character will be a factor in this decision too. As stated before, activity and participation within the fed is the way to earn push for your character. Unexcused inactivity for several TV periods will not bode well on your character or match results should you suddenly decide to show up and roleplay for the Pay Per View.
Here are some things we look for in roleplays:
- Quality of the overall writing
- Use of smack talk against your opponent in some form
- Staying true to your character’s gimmick
- Progressive character development in some form
- Relevancy to the events surrounding your character in the NAFW in relation to his life
- Continuity
- Originality
- Creativity
The word count limit for each PPV roleplay is approximately 2,500 words. This will not strictly be enforced. You do not need to write to the word count limit to win your match. If you do go over, it should not be a problem unless you consistently do it or your intent in doing it is to burry your opponent with extra quantity. The emphasis here with roleplay limits and word count limits is to push quality over quantity. Plan your roleplays accordingly. Any roleplay containing fewer than 250 words will not count toward a match.
There are no roleplay or word count limits for standard TV period roleplays unless specifically noted by the administration.
The official PPV roleplay limit is two RPs per match per person OR team. For tag team matches, roleplays can be any combination of solo and joint work.
Any and all replies by a single handler or tag team in a traditional back and forth smack talk thread will be counted as ONE Roleplay. Replies in such back and forth threads are unlimited. We ask that you limit each post to approximately 500 words. If you start a traditional smack thread and your opponent does not engage in it with sufficient time before the deadline, you may reply to the thread yourself and do a more rounded RP in the reply, subtracting the number of words you have already used in the first post from the word count limit.
For matches with more than two wrestlers per side or an unequal number of wrestlers per side, roleplay limits will be set at the discretion of the administration at the time of the posting of the card.
Other match types such as Battle Royals, Triple Threats, and other specialty matches will generally follow the 1 vs. 1 rules for roleplay limits unless announced otherwise by the administration.
Joint Roleplays outside of tag teams must be labeled as a Joint RP in the subject line with what characters are involved, and must include credits outlining which sections were written by each handler involved. These roleplays must follow the normal word count rule and will count as one of your roleplays for the period, so make the overall RP count.
Any additional RP efforts during the PPV period, while not directly counted toward matches, will be taken into account in regard to overall push. Do not try to abuse the option of writing extra roleplays as a way to increase your push as it will not factor in that greatly at the end of the PPV period.
If both sides do not roleplay for a PPV match, the match will be cancelled at the discretion of the administration unless arrangements are made in advance to work the match with administrative approval.
In certain circumstances, television matches may be decided upon Roleplay rules rather than Angle rules. If such a circumstance should arise, all handlers involved will be notified accordingly before the match. Roleplay limits may be modified for the television periods at the administration team’s discretion.
RP content must be suitable for public viewing. Profanity should be kept to a minimum, and ideally should be censored in some way. The following are absolutely unacceptable, will not be tolerated and will be edited out of posts: Racial/ethnic/sexist slurs, bigotry, sexually explicit material. This list is by no means complete. Other unacceptable material, and consequences related to its posting are decided at the discretion of the administration.
The RP period for each show is from the time the card for that show is posted (generally soon after the previous show is posted), to the RP deadline included on the card. Only Roleplays posted within a show's RP period will be counted directly toward that show's matches.
Match Strategies and Segments for shows are very strongly encouraged as they will greatly help your character’s push. Guidelines for Match Strategies and Segments can be found by clicking on the Help link.
Use of another person’s character in a roleplay or segment without that person’s (or in some cases, the administration’s) permission is unacceptable. As a minimum consequence, any RP containing such a transgression will not be counted or the segment will be edited or discarded. Further consequences may be issued, depending on the severity of the situation. This is at the complete discretion of the administration.
Additionally, other than interviewers, other staff characters cannot be used in roleplays or segments without the express permission of the administration, which must be sought at least a week in advance.
Match decisions are made at the sole discretion of the administration, and are final.
Segments for the shows must be fully written by you and placed in a single thread in your Personal Handler Forum marking specifically what show they are for. Any segments in here will be considered complete, and if it turns out they are not, all of your segments for the week can be ignored.
Segment format should match the format of the shows. Guidelines for this can be found in the Help link. It is your responsibility to ensure correct segment formatting. Incorrectly formatted segments may not be included in a show. It is not the job of the administration to format your segments properly. If one segment is not fixed, all your segments for the week may be left off the show to ensure proper continuity.
The NAFW Forums are a privilege for all handlers and guests. NO forums are meant for spamming, flaming, complaints, hazing, etc. All forums ARE moderated, and there will be consequences associated with misbehavior, at the discretion of the administration.
If you need to get in touch with the NAFW administrators, we highly suggest you use your Personal Handler Forum. All private forums are read on a regular basis. Note that just because a post isn’t replied to does not mean it has not been seen. Please give us adequate time to discuss your requests amongst ourselves. You can also communicate with the administrators via e-mail, IM, and PM if necessary, but these are all unofficial conversations and nothing is considered official unless it is posted in a Personal Handler Forum.
The NAFW administration is happy to discuss and consider angle orstoryline ideas and suggestions that you may have and encourage you to think ofyour own. In order to avoid confusion and complication, we require appropriate notice of relevant information and requests with enough advance warning.
Also note that you are more than welcome to suggest ideas to your fellow handlers, whether it is over IM, or through the board. The administrators will gladly work as intermediaries in passing on ideas.
If you require a leave of absence for any reason, try to give us as much notice as possible before leaving. Similarly, if you take an extended leave we require at least a week’s notice before your return, in order to make appropriate arrangements. If you do leave or disappear while holding a title or in the middle of a major angle, you thereby give us permission to use your character to finish the angle or to take the title off of you, by whatever means we deem necessary.
Use of the NAFW, names, characters, and championships in places outside of the NAFW are strictly prohibited without prior consent of the administration. If we are notified ofinstances of anything NAFW being misused, we reserve the right to take disciplinary action as well as take whatever means necessary to rectify the situation within the NAFW. The only official lines of NAFW of continuity exist within the NAFW itself, in addition to certain and select outside places and events specifically recognized by the NAFW, which occurs on an individual and event-by-event basis.
Above all, remember that we’re all here to enjoy the game. Have fun.
By applying to join the NAFW, you agree to these rules and will follow them if you are accepted as a handler.
